EM™ Tick Repellent Ceramic Collars
What are EM™ ceramics?
EM® stands for Effective Microorganisms®, a brand name referring to a family of microbial-based products using a technology developed by Japanese scientist Dr. Teruo Higa. The main product, EM·1®, is a liquid bacterial product comprising three groups of microbes: Yeast, Photosynthetic Bacteria, and Lactic Acid Bacteria. EM·1® works together with local and native beneficial microbes, creating a synergy among microorganisms and larger forms of life including insects and worms, pets and livestock, and people. All products using EM Technology®contain EM·1® in some part of their manufacturing process.
How Does It Work?
EM™ (Effective Microorganism) ceramics emit far infrared waves, the longest rays in the light spectrum. This wavelength is highly compatible with human and animal tissue. The body can absorb them easily at depths up to 3 inches, where they can do lots of good work. Far Infrared waves remove blood cell clusters which improves blood circulation. Because the infrared rays penetrate the tissue, they work deep into body tissue, not just on the surface of the skin. This improved and balanced environment in your dog (created by EM) can help keep ticks from attaching to your dog.
EM™ ceramics are made by fermenting a special clay with approximately 80 different microorganisms (EM) and then baked. The pipes are baked at 1200 C, due to the fact that in the baking process the structure of the clay changes, trapping the EM within its matrix. As a result, these EM pipes exert their influence purely through their physical properties and remain effective for a long time.
An EM™ Tick Collar can be as effective as any tick repellent found on the market, but without side effects. That makes it also safe for dogs with allergies and sensitivities. However, there is no 100% guarantee EM collars nor any other tick product will keep ticks off of our furry friends! Nevertheless, the best prevention is to avoid known tick areas, and checking your dog AND yourself for ticks after every nature walk. EM ceramics are safe if you have children in your household. (although, don't let the kids nor dogs eat them!)
Please note that this product does not come with a guarantee of its effectiveness. It is a natural product that does not use chemicals. Tick populations and activity vary according to region and season.
Important Information:
- EM Tick-off Necklaces are not guaranteed to prevent ticks completely
- It can take up to 4 weeks of continuous wear before your collar begins to be fully take affect on your dogs system.
- Replace your dog’s EM® Tick-off Necklace every 10-12 months
- Your collar should be worn in addition to, not instead of, a collar
- Never attach a lead to an EM® Tick-off Necklace
- Clean regularly using only warm water (do not use detergent)
- Check your dog thoroughly and remove ticks as soon as they're detected
- Avoid walking in areas where ticks are likely to be present (woods and long grass)
- These collars are not indestructible. The clay pipes can be damaged or broken during play or if chewed. I cannot provide refunds or replacements for collars damaged due to wear and tear, being chewed etc. I recommend removing collars during play.
Cleaning the Collar:
- EM Collars should be washed with warm water ONLY. Absolutely no soaps or chemicals as these will compromise the integrity of the Effective Microorganisms®!
- Rotate and rinse the clay beads often, at least every other week
- the beads will work best when they are clean and free of debris.
- Swimming with the collar is fine, as long as it is not in chemically treated water. (i.e. chlorine or bromine)
- Hang to dry in a warm, sunny area. Sun is good for the EMs and our paracord is mold-resistant & quick-drying!
- If you use other topical products, do NOT allow these products to come into contact with the EM Collar. Oils, soaps and chemicals WILL compromise the EMs and cause them to become ineffective. These can also cause the Ceramic Clay to break down, and the pipes will crack.
